Position Overview
The Management Accountant supports the financial performance of Metroll Laverton and allocated branches through accurate reporting, budgeting, compliance, and operational support.
This role partners with operations, payroll, auditors, and senior leadership to ensure effective financial management and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for allocated branches (rotating based on business needs).
Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Metroll Laverton and assigned branches.
Submit completed financials to Head Office within agreed timelines.
Prepare and lodge BAS; complete annual FBT reporting.
Prepare income tax returns for Metroll Victoria using existing templates.
Work closely with auditors to finalise statutory reporting obligations.
Stock Management
Plan and coordinate monthly stocktakes for assigned branches.
Review stock variances, investigate discrepancies, and finalise stocktake results.
Cash Flow, Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist with cash flow management and provide insights for operational planning.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers.
Payroll & Internal Coordination
Collaborate closely with payroll to ensure leave entitlement accuracy.
Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate financial information.
Business Improvement & Support
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
Assist the Financial Controller with daily tasks, reporting, and ad hoc projects.
Perform additional duties as directed by the Financial Controller or General Manager.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain punctuality and reliable timekeeping.
Ensure all operations are conducted safely and in line with WHS standards.
Report and/or action faults, including damaged raw materials or finished goods.
Report or address defective equipment, unsafe work practices, and workplace hazards.
Report all injuries, incidents, and near misses promptly.
Participate in business development initiatives, including training and personal development programs.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Provide regular operational updates to the Branch Manager in line with budgets and KPIs.
Take responsibility for the maintenance and care of company assets at the branch.
Ensure all operational activities meet agreed customer service levels.
Allocate and oversee daily tasks to ensure operational requirements are met.
Meet all Quality and WHS&E requirements as outlined in company procedures.
Ensure all facilities are maintained according to expected housekeeping and safety standards.
Skills & Experience
CA/CPA qualified with 5+ years of experience
Experience in management accounting or financial accounting roles – Manufacturing work environment preferred.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax compliance.
Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
Experience with stock management and variance analysis.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, pronto experience advantageous.
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate across departments.
