About Our Client

Our client is responsible for managing, developing and stewarding one of Victoria's most strategically important deep‐water ports. The organisation plays a central role in enabling freight, infrastructure delivery and long‐term economic growth, while operating within a high‐compliance environment shaped by public sector policy, environmental regulation, and complex multi‐stakeholder partnerships. This is a max term 4 year role linked to the VRET Project and is subject to the project receiving and maintaining required government approvals and funding.

Job Description

The Interface Manager leads and manages all technical-based interfaces across internal and external stakeholders to support the successful design, planning and delivery of a major infrastructure project supporting renewable energy. The role ensures project risks are proactively managed, stakeholder requirements are understood, and interfaces are coordinated in relation to project design, construction activities, utilities, transport, and land use to achieve optimal outcomes and keep the project on schedule.

* Lead management of interfaces with key stakeholders impacted by design, construction and operations to understand interests, mitigate project risks and protect organisational reputation.
* Clearly define all internal and external project interfaces, identifying risks and developing strategies to support stakeholder, community, government and project needs.
* Coordinate design, planning and activities associated with the installation, protection, or modification of transport infrastructure and key utilities, including establishing and managing a Traffic Liaison Working Group.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure aligned technical engagement with neighbours, councils and government agencies.
* Represent the project in wider forums eg emergency management and act as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders.
* Leverage relationships and decision‐making processes to ensure alignment with values and stakeholder interests.
* Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and internal policy requirements.

The Successful Applicant

Successful candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced project or construction professional with strong technical and interface management skills and a proven ability to work across complex stakeholder environments. They will bring excellent communication, negotiation and analytical skills, enabling them to coordinate government agencies, utilities, transport bodies and commercial neighbours while keeping the project moving smoothly. They will be highly organised, commercially aware, calm under pressure, and capable of identifying risks early and developing strategic solutions. With a background in major civil or infrastructure projects, they will be proactive, relationship‐driven, and skilled at managing technical inputs and multi‐party coordination to deliver outcomes for the project.

* Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to track compliance obligations and improve processes.
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
* Sound judgement, decision‐making skills, and ability to influence outcomes.

Qualifications

* Formal qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (essential).
* Additional training or certification in infrastructure delivery, stakeholder management, or similar areas (desirable).

Experience

* Minimum 7+ years' experience in project, construction or engineering delivery roles (desirable).
* Demonstrated experience on large‐scale civil or infrastructure projects (major project experience over ~$200m considered advantageous).
* Proven track record coordinating approvals and managing technical interfaces across utilities, roads, rail, ports or similar environments.
* Experience working with government agencies, councils, and regulated industries.
* Experience managing complex stakeholder groups with differing priorities.
* Background in risk management, interface coordination or multi‐disciplinary project delivery.
