The position of Program Manager sits within the Delivery Management Office (DMO), reports the Associate Director Portfolio Delivery, and is responsible for the end-to-end program leadership and strategic oversight, direction, and delivery of programs of work and strategic initiatives across Swinburne University of Technology.
The Program Manager will bridge the gap between portfolio management and operational delivery, ensure the projects are aligned to organizational objectives, focus on the delivery of business outcomes, risks and interdependencies are actively managed, value is realized in a disciplined and transparent manner.
The Program Manager will be trusted advisor to the Executive and Project Sponsors, governance groups, co-ordinate the project teams, vendors and internal suppliers/stakeholders to plan the tranches of work, prepare program level business case and drive delivery of outcomes and change. Strong collaboration, co-ordination and communication skills are required to manage team members working as Subject Matter Experts, IT professionals, Transformation Management Office professionals, legal teams, finance teams and external vendors.
This role requires an individual who can solve complex problems in a constructive manner, work within a professional program management framework and unify stakeholders to deliver the program positively.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 26 Feb 2027 at our Hawthorn campus (Hybrid).
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
* Relevant Program Management qualification (e.g., MSP, PgMP) or a minimum of Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2).
* Extensive and broad Program + Project Management experience across all areas of organisational change including significant IT projects.
* Proven expertise in managing full program lifecycles, including governance, benefits realization, financial management, and executive-level reporting.
* Highly developed strategic and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to develop program strategy and translate it into measurable plans that deliver results.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills, influencing skills, and negotiation skills to manage senior stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and build trust across a complex organization.
* Deep understanding of how organisational change is managed within a program context, with a focus on end-user experience and adoption in a service sector environment (preferably Higher Education).
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write high-quality executive-level reports and present complex program information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
