Regulatory Capability and Engagement Officer



* Exciting opportunity to join the Regulatory Capability team within the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport
* This is a Clerk Grade 7/8 role with a salary range of $113,574 - $125,720 per annum plus superannuation
* Ongoing full-time role based in Sydney, NSW - Hybrid working arrangements may be available within business operational needs



About The Role  

The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS) is seeking a motivated and collaborative Regulatory Capability and Engagement Officer to join the Hospitality & Racing division. This role plays a key part in strengthening internal communication, employee engagement and culture building across a diverse regulatory workforce. You’ll design and deliver initiatives that reinforce our regulatory mandate, support values driven performance and enhance the overall employee experience.
You’ll help connect our people to the purpose of our work—supporting a vibrant, safe and responsible hospitality, liquor, racing and gaming environment for communities across NSW.
In this role, you’ll deliver high quality communication, engagement and culture building initiatives that strengthen staff connection, support regulatory effectiveness, enhance onboarding and recognition experiences, and enable leaders and teams to communicate clearly, consistently and with impact across the organisation.
You will help shape a culture of regulatory excellence, contributing to initiatives that develop capability, strengthen confidence and ensure our people are equipped to deliver high quality regulatory outcomes.

About You  

You are a strong communicator who understands how internal communication and engagement can shape culture, influence regulatory professionalism and support effective regulatory practice. You also appreciate the role communication plays in building regulatory capability and excellence across teams.

You enjoy working in complex environments and can translate technical or regulatory information into clear, accessible content.


You will bring:


* An understanding of complex, regulatory or government environments and how communication and engagement contribute to effective regulatory performance
* Experience delivering employee engagement and/or internal communication activities
* Strong written communication skills and confidence facilitating or supporting engagement activities such as workshops, forums or onboarding
* The ability to collect, interpret and present engagement insights to inform workforce experience improvements
* A collaborative mindset, strong relationship building skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience are required.

Appointment is subject to meeting probity requirements under the Gaming and Liquor Administration Act 2007.
