About the role:
Rabobank has an opening for a Compliance Manager - Specialised Compliance to join our Line 2 Compliance team in Sydney. In this role, you'll play a key part in embedding best‐practice compliance across Rabobank Australia & NZ, ensuring alignment with local legislation & global frameworks.
This is a hands‐on role for a driven compliance professional with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders. You will manage non‐financial crime compliance risks in areas such as Privacy, Record Keeping, Banking Code of Practice, Corporations Act obligations, Conflicts of Interest, & Incident & Breach Management.
Top Role Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Policies, Standards & Advisory
* Review global policies & assess gaps against Australian legislative & regulatory requirements
* Develop & maintain local compliance policies & standards in partnership with the business
* Conduct compliance gap assessments & provide SME advice on non‐financial crime risks, controls & regulatory change
* Review Line 1 procedures & control environments, recommending improvements where needed
Oversight, Reporting & Training
* Deliver thematic reviews & provide Line 2 oversight of compliance risks, incidents & breaches
* Prepare clear, timely reporting for senior management, boards & governance committees
* Support regulatory change impact assessments & provide second‐line review & sign‐off
* Partner with Risk Training to design & deliver practical compliance training
* Support internal, head office & external audits
Industry Engagement & Projects
* Represent Rabobank at relevant industry forums (e.g. Australian Banking Association working groups)
* Provide specialist compliance advice to business initiatives & regulatory change projects
* Act as an escalation point & SME for non‐financial crime compliance matters
* Conduct second‐line compliance testing & track remediation actions
To be successful, you will have:
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in Compliance, &/or Risk Management within financial services
* Expertise in risk & control frameworks & compliance assessments
* The ability to interpret legislation & complex regulatory requirements
* Sound knowledge of Australian regulatory obligations such as the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, Privacy legislation, & Banking Code of Practice
* Demonstrated ability to engage, influence & build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (including Copilot), Excel, Word & PowerPoint
* Well‐developed interpersonal skills, with an ability to build trust & establish strong, collaborative relationships
* Excellent written communication skills with the ability to succinctly convey key messages in draft papers & reports
* A continuous improvement mindset
* Experience designing & delivering compliance training highly regarded
