This role is ideal for a senior finance professional who thrives in program‑level governance, strategic financial management, and supporting executive decision‑making across major initiatives.
You'll play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, strengthening financial discipline, and ensuring the program maintains confidence in its financial position as it progresses through its next phase.
About the Role
In this senior advisory role, you will oversee the financial management of a major multi‑year technology and transformation program. Working closely with program leadership, you will provide high‑quality financial insights, strategic analysis, and recommendations to ensure delivery remains aligned with approved funding and organisational priorities.
This position focuses on uplift, assurance, and financial governance rather than hands‑on delivery. You'll guide, mentor, and support project teams to build capability, improve financial maturity, and embed consistent frameworks across the program.
Key Responsibilities
Lead program‑level financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation.
Establish clear and transparent financial governance practices aligned to government frameworks.
Provide strategic financial advice to senior executives, translating complex data into clear insights.
Develop and implement financial models, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
Identify emerging financial risks and opportunities, advising on mitigation strategies.
Build financial capability across project and program teams through coaching and mentorship.
Ensure budgets, forecasts, and funding decisions align with program timelines, scope, and dependencies.
Support continuous improvement of financial processes and promote strong financial accountability.
About You
You are a seasoned finance professional with a proven track record supporting large, complex programs, ideally within government or similarly regulated environments. You bring strong financial acumen, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to operate with confidence in fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder settings.
Essential Skills & Experience
Extensive experience in program or portfolio‑level financial management.
Strong financial modelling, forecasting, and reporting capability.
Demonstrated ability to advise, influence, and negotiate with executive stakeholders.
Experience uplifting financial governance frameworks and improving financial maturity.
Proficiency with key program/project management tools and financial systems.
Relevant qualifications (CPA, CA, MBA or similar) are highly regarded.
Formal program/project management certification (MSP, PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile) advantageous.
