Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service – Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing culturally safe, holistic primary health care to community across the New England North West of NSW.
We are seeking a motivated, community-focused Social Worker to join our Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team and provide culturally safe, trauma‐informed support to clients and families.
What you'll do
* Provide culturally safe case management, psychosocial assessments, and support planning
* Deliver trauma‐informed counselling within scope and program requirements
* Coordinate care with internal teams and external service providers, including outreach and follow‐up
* Maintain high‐quality clinical notes and accurate record keeping
* Contribute to community wellbeing initiatives and culturally informed healing activities
* Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, cultural safety, and TAMS‐AC policies
What we're looking for
* Bachelor of Social Work (required)
* Accredited and recognised with the Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (ARCAP) (required)
* Demonstrated capacity to provide trauma‐informed, client‐centred counselling
* Understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) frameworks in Aboriginal health
* Demonstrated ethical and culturally appropriate practice
* Strong communication and relationship‐building skills
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Effective time management and ability to prioritise workload
* Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) (required)
* Current National Police History Check (required)
* Experience working in an Aboriginal Medical Service and/or primary health care setting
* Knowledge of local services and referral pathways
* Strong computer literacy and clinical record keeping skills
* Current Australian Driver Licence
* Lived experience or deep understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Be part of a respected Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation
