School of Communication and Arts Full-time, permanent position at Academic Level B or Level C Base salary will be in the range $112,572.59 - $158,351.30 17% Superannuation (Academic Level B and Academic Level C) Based at our vibrant St Lucia campus About This Opportunity The School of Communication and Arts seeks to appoint an exceptional individual as Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Digital Media. We particularly welcome applications from candidates whose teaching and research bring together critical analysis and praxis, and the ideal candidate would also have expertise in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence (AI) assisted digital media production; digital platforms; digital media analytics; data governance and data sovereignty (especially Indigenous data sovereignty); and/or critical perspectives on digital media, power and society. The successful candidate will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, supervise Higher Degree Research Students, conduct high-quality scholarship, foster engagement with external stakeholders and partners, and contribute to the collegial environment of the School and University. Key responsibilities will include: Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules. Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About You Applicants should possess a PhD in communication, digital media, media studies, or a closely related field. Additionally, you will demonstrate: Lecturer (Level B) A growing profile in teaching and research in the field. A developing track record of publication and the ability to conceive and execute a mid to long term research agenda. Evidence of high-quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels across a variety of settings, including small and large groups. Ability to coordinate courses and contribute to the development and innovation of curricula and course material. Evidence of seeking external research funding as appropriate within the field Ability to supervise honours and Higher Degree Research students. Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities. Senior Lecturer (Level C) An established national and developing international profile in teaching and/or research in the field. A sustained track record of publication and successful pursuit of a mid to long term research agenda. Evidence of high-quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels across a variety of settings, including small and large groups. Extensive experience coordinating courses and contributing to the development and innovation of curricula and course material. Evidence of seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding as appropriate within the field Experience supervising honours and Higher Degree Research students to completion. A track record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.
