Position Information


Oxley High School (1000 students; 20% Aboriginal students) is a dynamic comprehensive high school located in the regional centre of Tamworth. Tamworth is a progressive community, affordable housing, a growing population of 55000 people and easy connection to Sydney and Brisbane. Oxley High School has a close connection to the community through academic, social, sporting and cultural achievements. It is renowned for producing students of national and international recognition in the Arts, Sport and Academia and, consistently high HSC achievement. Oxley High School offers a broad range of electives from Years 7-12 including Languages, Extension English and Mathematics, Drama, Dance, Visual Arts, Agriculture, Music, Gifted and Talented Sport and Theatre. A key feature of the school is the commitment of students, staff and community to an expansive curriculum including extra-curricular activities which allows students to achieve to their personal and academic best. Oxley High School has a partnership with UNE and is considered a Centre of Excellence in education.


Selection Criteria


Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, Capacity to supervise a large and complex VET program. Demonstrated capability to lead a complex multidisciplinary faculty. Ability to support teachers in various stages of their careers to lead improved teaching practice and student results. Capability to lead whole-school program implementation as Middle Leader and engage stakeholders to improve school outcomes.


General Selection Criteria


1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy


Conditions


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
