Our client is a leading not for profit organisation that provides family violence legal services, non-legal support, and education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Western Australia who have experienced, or who are victims/survivors of Family violence and sexual assault.
Our client's purpose is to provide culturally secure and free legal services, community education, and early intervention and prevention programs and advocates for policy and legal changes to Close the Gap in Aboriginal peoples' access to justice.
The organisation currently has sixty staff and six regional offices.
**About the Role**:
Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, this key leadership role will provide support across the organisation ensuring it continues to remain powerful and culturally strong and delivers excellent services and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in WA. The role plays an integral part to ensure that the organisation recruits, retains, and develops its workforce to deliver appropriate and effective services.
Focusing on operational and administrative functions, the Deputy CEO will ensure that the organisation continues to be regarded as a high-quality Aboriginal Not for Profit delivering excellent services, programs, and outcomes. Responsibilities include providing support and advice on governance and risk management issues; overseeing a highly skilled and empowered workforce; leading, developing, and implementing marketing and social media; and engaging with internal and external stakeholders in a proactive and collaborative manner.
Essentially the organisation seeks an executive with a genuine passion and commitment to working closely with the CEO to ensure the organisation continues to provide the highest level of services, programs, and outcomes for the community.
**Job Requirements**:
To secure this career opportunity you will possess the following:
**Essential**:
- Qualifications in Accounting, Legal, Business, or another related field
- Highly developed communication and people skills, including the ability to negotiate, influence, and consult
- Strategic focus for developing the organisation in relation to needs of the clients and communities
- Extensive knowledge of quality, governance, and risk strategies and frameworks
- Strong understanding of the business and cultural requirements of working for an Aboriginal organisation
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear and pragmatic leadership within an organisation experiencing significant change and growth, and the ability to tailor leadership styles to your team's individual requirements
- Highly developed partnership skills with both internal and external stakeholders
**Desirable**:
- Understand community legal services in WA and Social Justice issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Significant experience working at a senior level in a community-based not-for-profit organisation
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing funding and financial requirements of an organisation
- Understanding of how WA governments operate.

- Valid WA Driver's License
- Current National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- COVID vaccinations as per the WA Health Directives and the organisations policies
- Travel to regional offices and/or remote locations is required
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Prepared to provide 'on call' duties as required
