Job Description
As a seasoned professional, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects.
Major Responsibilities:
* Plans and conducts independent scope of work and technical specifications for Civil/Structural design and field investigations on large size projects or assignments in support of a global business unit
* Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
* Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned
* Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
* Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
* Develops conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
* Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
At least 10 years of broad progressive work experience in design engineering, or other relevant types of engineering associated with major building and infrastructure design and construction projects.
* Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness
* Broad knowledge of industry/regulatory/local codes and standards and design criteria in safety in design
* Aviation or rail project experience is preferred
* Expertise using engineering design and office software, including AutoCAD Civil 3-D, MS Office and PowerBi
* Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication including technical writing
* Recognized as advanced contributor with specialized skill set Considered subject matter expert within discipline Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
