Role Summary
The Teaching Assistant supports the lead piano teacher in delivering engaging, structured, and nurturing group piano classes for children 4-10 years of age. This role focuses on assisting students during class activities, maintaining a calm and positive learning environment, and helping each child feel confident, included, and supported.
This is a hands-on, child-focused role ideal for someone who is patient, organised, and enjoys working with young children in a creative and musical setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the teacher during group piano lessons
* Help children with basic tasks such as finding keys, using correct finger numbers, and following activities
* Support students one-on-one when they need extra guidance
* Maintain a warm, encouraging, and positive classroom environment
* Help set up and pack down materials and pianos
* Supervise students respectfully and safely
* Encourage participation, focus, and good behaviour
* Communicate kindly and clearly with both students and teachers
* Support children who may feel shy, overwhelmed, or unsure
* Uphold the values and teaching approach of The Piano Palace
Skills & Qualities

* Comfortable assisting in a group learning environment
* AMEB piano certificate 2nd grade or higher
* Holds (or is willing to obtain) a Working With Children Check
Hours
Casual position
Primarily during school holidays and weekends
Shifts typically range from 1 to 4 hours
