This position is a short-term contract (approx. 20 hours per week for 7‐8 weeks) for a UI/UX Designer experienced in designing interaction models for Unity‐based 3D applications, with familiarity in game‐style interfaces and CAD or parametric‐style design tools.
Role Overview
The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for creating the platform's user interface layout, interaction flow, and design system in collaboration with developers, CAD specialists, and project stakeholders. The goal is to deliver a professional, accessible, and highly usable interface that simplifies the user experience of complex engineering and visualisation tools.
Key Responsibilities
UI / UX Design & Interaction
o Design interface layouts, panels, and control structures suitable for Unity‐based 3D environments
o Define interaction patterns for:
+ Object selection
+ Parameter input
+ Constraints and dependencies
+ Visual feedback and system responses
o Structure interfaces that balance:
+ Functional depth
+ Visual clarity
+ Predictable user behaviour
o Translate abstract rules and configuration logic into approachable interaction models
Parametric & CAD‐Inspired Interface Design
o Design UI concepts that expose parametric options and rule‐driven behaviour clearly
o Represent dependencies and constraints in ways that reduce user confusion
o Propose visual cues that help users understand cause‐and‐effect when values change
o Align interface concepts with how geometry and configuration logic behave in practice
Prototyping & Design Artefacts
o Produce low‐to‐mid‐fidelity artefacts such as:
+ Wireframes
+ Interaction flow diagrams
+ Click‐through or animated prototypes (tooling flexible)
o Iterate designs based on internal feedback and usability discussion
o Document key UI patterns and interaction decisions to support downstream implementation
Qualifications
* 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design for web or application interfaces.
* Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
* Strong understanding of UI layouts, hierarchy, accessibility, and responsive design principles.
* Experience working on data‐heavy or 3D/technical interfaces preferred but not essential.
* Familiarity with Unity, WebGL, or engineering/visualisation tools will be highly regarded.
* Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote Agile team environment.
Key Competencies
* Strong ability to express complex functionality through clear interaction concepts
* Clean, modern visual design sensibility
* Thoughtful approach to hierarchy, feedback, and user guidance
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work independently within a short, clearly scoped contract
* Practical, delivery‐focused working style
