The Role
As Technical Manager, you'll lead day-to-day laboratory operations while remaining actively involved in technical work and customer interaction. You'll play a key role in maintaining accreditation standards, supporting audits, improving workflows, and mentoring a team of engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead daily test operations, including job scheduling and workflow planning
* Provide hands-on technical expertise across standards, equipment, and methodologies
* Review and approve test plans, methods, and critical technical decisions
* Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and internal quality procedures
* Act as a primary technical contact for customers, auditors, and internal stakeholders
* Coach, mentor, and support engineers and technicians
* Coordinate training, development plans, and competency assessments
* Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical efficiency improvements
* Prepare accurate technical quotes and pricing estimates
* Support internal audits, accreditation assessments, and corrective actions
* Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and upgrade planning
About You
Required:
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Physics, Electronics, or related discipline
* 10+ years' experience in product compliance, design, or testing
* Strong knowledge of relevant standards (EMC, electrical safety, environmental testing, etc.)
* Proven experience leading or supervising technical teams
* Experience with test scheduling, operational planning, and workflow management
* Ability to prepare detailed test plans, proposals, and technical quotations
* Solid understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 and accreditation processes
* Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
Highly regarded:
* Authorised Signatory experience or similar technical authority
* Project management experience or qualifications
* Exposure to continuous improvement frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
