Rothsay Gold Mine is a satellite underground operation specialising in super‑narrow vein gold mining. The original Woodlys ore system is now in full production, with development and stoping advancing rapidly in the newly established Hydra ore system. Ore widths across the mine are exceptionally narrow, typically between 1m and 200mm, with stopes being mechanically mined at sub-1m widths.
This is technically demanding, precision‑driven mining, and it's an exciting time to join a high‑performing team delivering safe, efficient, and innovative underground production.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, the Alternate Senior Mine Surveyor will be responsible for delivering all site survey requirements for both the underground and surface aspects of the operation, using Leica Total Station equipment as well as surface and underground drones. You will collaborate closely with our experienced Mine Survey team at the busy Rothsay operation.
This position will be offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Jandakot (including free parking) or on a DIDO roster from Geraldton and surrounding areas.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
* Maintain accurate survey control of underground workings and surface infrastructure.
* Carry out detailed surveys for end-of-month reporting.
* Effective use and maintenance of Leica Total Station and GPS equipment.
* Conduct surface and underground drone survey work using a DJI M200 and Elios 3 Drone and associated processing software, including Pix4D and Inspector.
* Installation of necessary survey control for directional control of mining
* Produce a high standard of mining instructions and plans
* Carry out CMS surveys of underground stopes.
* Generate accurate survey data and effectively communicate information to the technical team in a timely manner.
* Ensure Emergency Plans are up to date and easily accessible.
* Produce Mine Plans for regulatory submissions.
* Maintain mining physicals statistics.
About You
* Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Mine Surveying, complemented by proven experience in underground mine surveying.
* Working knowledge of Deswik software
* A Remote Pilot Licence is highly regarded
* Experience working with Leica Total Station equipment is preferred
* High degree of self-motivation with the ability to plan and prioritise multiple tasks
* A professional attitude and the ability to work as part of a team or autonomously
* High attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
* Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
