Staff Specialist Clinician SMO1.1 - SMO1.6
This is a full-time or part-time position for 12 months in the Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals Division of Medicine.
The job will involve working as a geriatrics general medicine specialist, ideally suited to a dual trained Geriatrician/General Physician.
You will be required to manage a large team of junior staff in busy units, demonstrating high-level leadership skills.
A key requirement is an exceptional understanding of complex discharge planning and the willingness to engage ambulatory care services to ensure timely discharges in our challenging environment.
It is essential that you can work well in a team and engage with patients from diverse multicultural backgrounds in the Top End of the Northern Territory.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide consultant level management of inpatients admitted under a General Medical Unit within Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) and Geriatric Medicine at Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH).
* Manage the General Medicine service, which includes management of the General Medical Unit at Royal Darwin Hospital in 2-week blocks.
* Geriatric medicine involves a mix of service in the Acute Care of The Elderly (ACE) ward at PRH, the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) ward at PRH, and the Interim Care Ward at PRH.
Requirements:
* Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Specialist registration with Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General and Acute Care Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.
