About the role
As part of the Arts, Events & Cultural Venues department, the Visual Art Curatorial Assistant supports the delivery of exhibitions, public programs, collection management, and audience engagement activities at Wyndham Art Gallery.
Reporting to the Visual Arts Curator, this role provides administrative and practical support across gallery operations including exhibition coordination, artwork handling, collection documentation, artist liaison, communications support, and public program delivery. The position works closely with artists, suppliers, community members, and internal stakeholders to help deliver engaging contemporary arts experiences for Wyndham's growing community.
This is a part-time role based primarily at Wyndham Art Gallery. Occasional after-hours and weekend work is required to support exhibition openings and public programs, with some travel between Wyndham City sites as needed.
What your day will look like
* Assisting with exhibitions, public programs, and gallery events.
* Supporting artwork handling, installation, and collection documentation.
* Managing administrative tasks including enquiries, scheduling, and database updates.
* Assisting with social media, website updates, and promotional materials.
* Coordinating logistics and communications with artists and stakeholders.
What you will bring
* Experience working in a gallery, museum, or cultural institution.
* Knowledge of contemporary visual arts and the Australian arts sector.
* Strong administration, communication, and organisational skills.
* Experience with digital systems, Microsoft Office, and collection databases.
* Basic knowledge of art handling and preventive conservation principles.
* A qualification in visual arts, museum studies, arts management, or a related field is desirable.
