Our 99,600 employees operate a network of 2,600 offices and laboratoriesaround the world.In Australia, our Energy Minerals business is a leading provider of coal testing and analysis.Job DescriptionWe’re seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead our dedicated team at Muswellbrook, supporting the Hunter Valley Operations Manager in delivering high-quality, timely laboratory services to our valued clients. In this key role, you’ll provide hands-on leadership and guidance to ensure accurate sampling, analysis, and reporting—meeting client expectations and upholding our commitment to excellence. This is a six-month fixed-term contract.Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:Demonstrate the effective use of risk management tools at the Muswellbrook branchMonitor the team and Promptly intervene when the team is not working at an acceptable level of risk and rectifyLead, direct and monitor daily activities of the laboratory work conducted by the Muswellbrook Branch.Coordinate the workload of the Laboratory area through the Muswellbrook Branch with involvement of other branches as required.Lead and direct team members to work collaboratively towards a common goalProactively make best use of the SGS training providedDevelop new team members into functioning members of their team and seek to utilise their potentialProvide coaching and mentoring not only in best practice coal preparation and testing processes but in team member personal growth and development of life skillsRecruit for Laboratory and assist with onboardingProactively promote within the Muswellbrook branch the attainment of Cleint KPI’sAssist with Ad-hoc projects and perform other duties, as required by SGS ManagementQualificationsWorking knowledge of Sampling, Preparation, Analysis, Validation and ReportingWorking knowledge of administration tasksMedium level knowledge of Microsoft OfficeProven time management experience including the ability to handle tight and pressured deadlinesMinimum 5 years’ experience in Coal LaboratoriesComputer skills in Word, Excel and CCLASAdditional InformationWHY WORK FOR SGS?Working at SGS means joining an innovative, Global company.
