We have recently opened our Melbourne office, and the timing could not be better. Victoria is about to introduce Minimum Financial Requirements (MFR) regulation for building licensees, mirroring the framework that has made QBCC compliance one of the most in-demand specialist services in Queensland. We have spent years building deep expertise in exactly this space, and we are bringing it to Victoria at the moment the market needs it most.
Our Bookkeeping Division has grown 212% in three years. We are looking for a Bookkeeping Supervisor or Manager to help lead that growth in Melbourne, own client relationships and drive the standards the division is built on.
The Role
This is a leadership and delivery role in equal measure. You will manage a team of offshore bookkeepers, own a portfolio of client relationships and be accountable for the quality, accuracy and commercial value of the work your team produces.
You will also play a hands-on role in designing and improving the systems, workflows and technology that the division runs on. As one of our first Melbourne hires, you will have genuine influence over how this office takes shape. Your Responsibilities
Client Management
* Serve as the primary point of contact for a defined portfolio of bookkeeping clients
* Build strong, trusted relationships with business owners and their teams
* Ensure client bookkeeping runs accurately, on time and to a consistently high standard
* Proactively identify and resolve issues before they become client problems
Team Leadership
* Lead, mentor and develop a team of bookkeepers offshore
* Set clear expectations, review work quality and hold the team accountable to standards
* Coach team members toward greater capability and independence
* Build a team culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement
Technical Oversight
* Oversee and review client accounts across Xero
* Ensure compliance and reporting obligations are met across your portfolio including accurate and on-time statutory lodgements (BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, TPAR, WorkCover)
* Maintain technical standards and sign off on work before it reaches clients including payroll, AP management, and EOM reporting
* Clear understanding and ability to interpret Industry Awards
What You Will Bring
Essential
* 6+ years of bookkeeping experience across multiple clients, ideally in public practice
* Prior supervisory or leadership experience, comfortable delegating and coaching
* Strong working knowledge of Xero
* A process improvement mindset and the confidence to redesign workflows that are not working
* Clear, plain-English communication with clients and team members at all levels
* The ability to manage competing priorities across a busy portfolio without dropping standards
Highly Regarded
* Experience in the building and construction industry
* Familiarity with Victorian building industry compliance and licensing frameworks
* Experience onboarding new clients into a bookkeeping division
* Implementing processes and systems specific to clients' needs and industry requirements
* Exposure to offshore team management
