Your Smile Dental is seeking an experienced Senior Dental Assistant / Clinic Supervisor to join our team in a hands-on leadership role. This position is ideal for a confident Dental Assistant who enjoys leading from the floor, supporting daily clinical operations, and mentoring team members while remaining actively involved in chairside assisting.
About the Role
The Senior Dental Assistant / Clinic Supervisor provides advanced clinical support, leadership, and mentorship to the Dental Assistant team. You will coordinate day-to-day clinical operations, assist chairside as required, and ensure the smooth running of the practice in collaboration with the Practice Manager and Practice Supervisor.
This role bridges the gap between hands-on dental assisting and clinical management.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and support the day-to-day Dental Assistant team
* Provide chairside dental assisting as required
* Supervise the practice in the absence of the Practice Supervisor
* Support staff inductions, training, and mentoring of junior Dental Assistants
* Practice ordering, stock control, and management of clinical supplies
* Manage internal lab work (ideally able to complete labwork)
* Manage clinical workflows, awareness proficiency in support of individual treatment room teams
* Equipment troubleshooting, basic maintenance, and liaising with service providers
* Ensure infection control, WHS, and compliance standards are upheld
* Provide front office support to level of competency (as required)
* Assist with implementing and maintaining clinical protocols and procedures
* Collaborate closely with Practice Supervisor/manager to improve practice systems
* Development of protocols/guideline/procedures as needed
* Work closely with operators (dentists/OHTS/hygienists) in improving assistant support
About You
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a Senior Dental Assistant role
* Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (required)
* Previous supervisory or leadership experience (highly regarded)
* Strong clinical skills, including advanced assisting and X-ray set up
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Confident communicator with strong leadership and mentoring ability
* Self -motivated, reliable, proactive and solutions-focused (problem solving)
* Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Receptive of leadership guidance and correction for personal development and interests of the staff/patients and management
* Full working rights in Australia (Essential)
