Human Resources & Payroll Officer

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources & Payroll Officer to join our team. This is a key role within the business, responsible for overseeing payroll compliance and supporting the full employee lifecycle across the organisation.
This position works closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the management team, and our external HR consultancy, offering a valuable opportunity for professional development and growth.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll
* Oversee payroll entry and processing from operational teams
* Audit payroll data to ensure compliance with the two industrial awards we operate under and the National Employment Standards (NES)
* Respond to payroll and award-related queries from supervisors, management, and staff
* Develop strong working knowledge of BusBiz payroll and HR software systems
* Assist with superannuation payments in conjunction with the Corporate Accountant
* Provide support and guidance regarding wage tax and payroll deductions
* Undertake additional payroll duties as directed by management
Human Resources
* Oversee day-to-day HR functions for all employees across the business
* Support managers with disciplinary and performance management processes
* Maintain and update company policies and procedures in collaboration with the Contracts and Compliance Manager
* Ensure HR practices remain current with national and industry-specific changes
* Provide advice and support to the management team on HR matters
* Maintain employee records and ensure documentation is up to date across both digital and hard copy systems
* Coordinate onboarding of new staff from recruitment through to commencement
* Manage staff offboarding and terminations from start to finish
* Conduct inductions and ensure timely completion through management follow-up
* Prepare employment contracts, position descriptions, and onboarding documentation
* Manage job advertisements across online platforms and local newspapers
* Draft employee correspondence including performance reviews, disciplinary letters, memos, and staff communications
* Liaise with BusBiz's third-party HR provider for guidance and support
* Liaise with Migration Agencies to support current sponsored employees
* Oversee communication with management and Migration Agencies regarding employment opportunities and position offers
General Administration
* Assist with front-of-house reception duties during busy periods, including answering phones and greeting visitors

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
* Previous experience in HR administration and or payroll processing
* Strong understanding of industrial awards and NES compliance
* High attention to detail and the ability to audit payroll accurately
* Excellent communication skills and a professional approach when supporting staff and management
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
* A confidential, proactive, and team-oriented working style
* The successful applicant must have or obtain a Working with Children's (employee) clearance - to be successful in obtaining a WWC, applicant must obtain a police check.
Qualifications in Human Resources, Payroll, or Business Administration will be highly regarded but are not essential.
