The Opportunity:
In this safety-critical position, you will play a key role in maintaining relay-based, electronic and computer-based signalling systems, supporting CTC operations, conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with rail safety standards. This role also contributes directly to safety audits, performance benchmarking and continuous improvement across our signalling function.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct routine maintenance, inspections and testing of signalling on complex train control systems and networking equipment in line with standards and procedures and carry out mechanical signalling maintenance such as rodding, stretcher bars and generator sets
* Diagnose, repair and replace defective components to ensure the reliable operation of the signalling network and respond to signalling failures and power-related irregularities in a timely and safe manner
* Install, maintain and repair relay-based, electronic and computer-based signalling systems, including design modifications where required.
* Perform minor construction, renewal and signal testing works as required
* Maintain accurate maintenance records in Maximo, including test certificates and maintenance documentation
* Ensure safe working practices by adhering to all safety rules, regulations and operating procedures
* Provide specialist technical support, participate in audits and contribute to section-wide performance objectives
* Support the development of other team members through on-the-job training in signalling and communications
* Work shifts as rostered (day, afternoon and night shifts), including on-call and emergency response requirements

About you
* Certificate III in Electrotechnology (or equivalent electrical trades certificate issued by a recognised Australian training organisation)
* Certificate IV in Rail Signalling
* Unrestricted Electrical Workers Licence
* Drivers Licence
* Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card or ability to obtain
* Knowledge of signalling circuit design and complex control systems
* Knowledge of signalling systems and experience working in an operational rail signalling environment
* Experience with signalling installation, maintenance standards and electrical safety interlocking principles
* Well-developed problem resolution skills
* Must be able to obtain Category 1 Safety Critical Rail Worker health assessment, which includes a Drug and Alcohol Screening
