Consultant Paediatrician (Child Development)
This role is part of a recruitment pool that will be assessed regularly to fill current vacancies and future positions until 20/12/2026. A successful applicant will be placed in the pool for future appointments after the current vacancies are filled.
Responsibilities
* Lead paediatric child development service delivery and help shape the future of child health in the Wheatbelt region.
* Mentor and inspire other doctors and non‑specialist clinicians, building capability and confidence across the team.
* Drive quality improvement initiatives and contribute to ongoing medical education.
* Foster a positive, team‑focused culture that values excellence and innovation.
* Actively contribute to clinical governance and policy development to strengthen paediatric healthcare across the region.
Qualifications
* Eligible for or hold registration by the Medical Board of Australia in the specialty of Paediatrics and child health.
* Substantial clinical experience in paediatric patient management with a strong focus on developmental paediatrics and child protection.
* Demonstrated effective, compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and external agencies, combined with strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Appointment Details
Employment types: Full Time, Part Time, and Sessional with the possibility of extensions. Pay is inclusive of base salary, PD allowance and 12% superannuation, as per the WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024, effective 3 Sept 2025. Rates are subject to assessment of qualifications, clinical skills and years of practice.
