About This Opportunity
Are you a skilled
plumber
ready for the next step in your career? We're looking for two experienced
technicians
who want more than just day-to-day service calls. If you're ready to use your hands-on trade knowledge while stepping into a role that mixes technical work with project coordination, this is your opportunity.
In this role, you'll still be actively working on plumbing systems, but you'll also be the key point of contact on-site – helping manage minor works, coordinate contractors, solve technical issues, and ensure facilities are performing at their best. If you've ever thought about diversifying your abilities into a coordination-based role but still love being on the tools, this is the best of both worlds.
Your
trade
is the most important qualification. Experience in other non-licensed areas or small-scale project work is a bonus – but UQ will provide support and training to help you grow.
Key Responsibilities
Support continuous improvement and contribute to a safe, efficient facilities environment.
Deliver and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and minor works across the precinct.
Act as the main client contact, managing requests and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Supervise contractors, source quotes, and oversee works to meet safety, quality, budget and time-frames.
Inspect and monitor building assets and systems, log jobs, and maintain accurate records.
Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and UQ safety requirements.
About UQ
As part of the UQ community, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world. Everyone here has a role to play. As a member of our professional staff cohort, you will be actively involved in working towards our vision of a better world. By supporting the academic endeavour across teaching, research, and the student life, you will have the opportunity to contribute to activities that have a lasting impact on our community.
Benefits
Up to 26 weeks paid parental leave or 14 weeks paid primary caregiver leave.
17% superannuation contributions.
Electric buggy provided to travel around campus.
17.5% annual leave loading.
Access to flexible working arrangements including flexible start/finish times, purchased leave, and a condensed fortnight.
Health and wellness discounts – fitness passport access, free yearly flu vaccinations, discounted health insurance, and access to our Employee Assistance Program for staff and their immediate family.
UQ Study for Staff.
On-campus childcare options.
Affordable parking (from just $6.40 a day).
Salary packaging options.
