About the Position
As the Professor in Education, you will be responsible for contributing to and support the development and delivery of innovative educational programs within the Education, Enabling and Linguistics Discipline. The role is a senior leadership role within the Faculty of Arts and Society and requires a collegial, dynamic leader who has a proven track record of excellence in teaching and learning.
The Professor will be involved in the development and teaching relevant units and PhD supervision, utilising both on-campus and flexible modes of teaching, and learning support. The individual will be expected to undertake administrative responsibilities and play a major role in engaging with the external community and being active within professional associations.
This role has a strong leadership element, overseeing the Education discipline at Charles Darwin University. Duties include, but not limited to:
* Contribute to the curriculum review process, revision of existing course material, and development of new courses to ensure teaching and assessment material is appropriate, accessible, equitable, and addresses priority areas.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of the faculty as a flexible and responsible provider of high-quality teaching and learning in a competitive education market.
* Participate in University committees and community activities as required
* Provide advice relevant to the effective operation and development of the Education, Enabling and Linguistics Discipline
* Provide timely, accurate, relevant, and constructive feedback to all students, providing academic advice and assistance to students consistent with the academic responsibility of staff.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
* A PhD level qualification in a relevant Education or related discipline including original, innovative, and distinguished contributions to scholarship and teaching as demonstrated through sustained and distinguished performance.
* A research or scholarship of teaching profile relevant to teaching-focused leadership in relevant discipline including evidence of scholarship of teaching and learning activity and outcomes, such as teaching innovations, publications, external grants, or consultancies in the field at national and international level.
* Demonstrated ability to manage unit (subject) teaching in internal and distance education modes, including through online platforms.
* Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, preparation, and delivery of online education programs.
* Demonstrated ability to represent the university at a range of forums, and to liaise, communicate, negotiate and collaborate with clients, stakeholders and partners, to deliver a valued service and achieve agreed outcomes.
* Demonstrated understanding of a university learning environment and equity programs and providing supportive education to people from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds and varying age groups.
* High level of interpersonal skills and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people from various educational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
* Excellent professional teamwork and communication skills, including oral, written, digital technology solutions (DTS), and interpersonal skills and proven abilities to manage and motivate teams and students as required.

Desirable Competencies
* Demonstrated ability to develop and use flexible/online computer-based learning materials to suit the needs of a diverse student body.
* Knowledge and experience using the LearnLine online learning systems and/or experience in developing learning and teaching curriculum and content.
* Established a record of publications and conference presentations in the relevant fields
Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory National Criminal History check and an NT Working with Children clearance
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level E. The base salary will be $195,391 per annum. The total remuneration package will be $228,607 per annum inclusive of 17% superannuation.
