About the Role
The Teaching Assistant plays an important role within our Mitcham Campus community, supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and pastoral care for our Mid-Year Reception students. Working closely with classroom teachers and the Mitcham Campus leadership, this position contributes to creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where young learners feel supported, valued and connected.
Acting as a supportive presence within the Mid-Year Reception class, the Teaching Assistant reinforces learning activities and supports student wellbeing. This role is well suited to someone who values meaningful connection, enjoys working with early childhood students, and understands the importance of balancing care with educational objectives.
The Teaching Assistant position is a Fixed Term Contract (37.5 hours per week) from 20th July 2026 to 9th December 2026. This role operates during term time (not working Term 3 holidays).
Key Responsibilities
* Promoting positive behaviour and social development while monitoring student wellbeing.
* Assisting the teacher in implementing literacy, numeracy, and inquiry learning experiences for individuals and small groups.
* Supporting differentiated learning and adjusting resources to meet specific learner needs.
* Assisting with classroom setup, transitions, and the maintenance of a safe, orderly learning space.
* Collaborating with the classroom teacher and specialist staff to support student inclusion.
About You
* Warm, encouraging and approachable professional who understands the importance of creating a safe and supportive learning environment for young children. Values building respectful and positive relationships and is committed to modelling professional excellence and sound judgement.
* Experience working with students in Early Childhood and/or junior primary settings.
* Qualifications in Education Support, Early Childhood, or a related field.
* Ability to build respectful, positive relationships with clear boundaries.
* Strong ICT skills and a commitment to accurate record-keeping.
* Knowledge of learning processes for children requiring support and enrichment.
