Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

$140,000 – $200,000 per annum, dependent on experience and location Type:

Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth (can be based in any of these offices) This role involves leading design work for heavy equipment in the bulk material handling industry, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and managing projects from concept to delivery. Key Responsibilities
Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings Managing the full lifecycle of design projects in a heavy equipment environment Collaborating with different departments to ensure smooth project delivery Liaising with manufacturing providers and participating in final assembly Creating required documentation for design and project reports Updating 3D models and drawings Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs Checking drawings for sign‑off Working in a small, multi‑disciplinary team on wide‑ranging projects Required Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field At least 5 years of experience in a similar mechanical design engineering role Experience in bulk materials handling or a comparable heavy equipment industry Previous exposure to conveyors, crushers, screens, chutes, pumps, piping, and other materials handling or processing equipment Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally with Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion360, etc. Proficiency with Bentley products or MicroStation preferred Solid theoretical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work within budgets Strong teamwork and self‑directed working skills
