About the Role:We are seeking an experienced SAP CAR / Retail Functional Consultant to join a high-profile retail transformation project in Melbourne. This role will act as the functional lead, working closely with business stakeholders to design, configure, and implement SAP Retail and CAR solutions. You will ensure alignment with overall program objectives, deliver high-quality solutions, and provide knowledge transfer to business users and support teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a functional expert and trusted advisor for SAP Retail and CAR.
* Lead and facilitate workshops with retail business stakeholders to gather requirements.
* Create and validate process maps and solution designs for retail operations.
* Document configuration, functional specifications, and test cases.
* Execute unit testing and support integration/system testing.
* Perform system configuration for SAP Retail components (Merchandise Management, Pricing, Promotions, Inventory Management) and SAP CAR.
* Provide inputs to program leadership and integration streams.
* Collaborate with technical teams for interfaces, POS integration, and enhancements.
* Support omnichannel retail processes, including real-time inventory visibility and sales analytics.
* Break down user stories into tasks, provide sizing estimates, and develop solutions that meet business requirements.
* Provide Level 3 support and assist other team members as required.
* Script and execute automated tests, contribute to technical designs, and help future-proof applications.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 10+ years of professional experience, with at least 5+ years in SAP Retail.
* Proven experience as a Functional Solution Design Manager or Senior Manager in SAP Retail.
* Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA Retail, SAP CAR, and integration with POS systems.
* Experience with end-to-end SAP Retail implementations, including hands-on configuration.
* Deep understanding of Retail Master Data, Article Hierarchies, Assortment Management, Pricing, Promotions, and Inventory.
* Knowledge of integration with SAP SD/MM, Fiori apps, and third-party retail systems.
* Experience in omnichannel retail, real-time inventory, and sales analytics.
* Strong leadership skills and ability to manage functional teams and stakeholders.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Must be based in Melbourne and able to be on-site 3-4 days per week.
Desirable Skills
* IT or related field qualification.
* Experience with software development, .Net technologies, modern UI/UX frameworks, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
* Knowledge of microservices, APIs, middleware, and Agile practices using tools like Jira and Confluence.
* Understanding of cybersecurity principles, observability tools (Dynatrace), and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
