Baba's Place is seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier to join our small, focused front-of-house team.
We are a hatted restaurant in Marrickville built on thoughtful hospitality, serious food, and a wine program that champions both the suburban story and the terroir, craft, and character behind every bottle we pour.

About the Role
We're looking for someone who brings both skill and versatility. Depending on your strengths and availability, there's room to tailor hours — but the non-negotiable is strong wine knowledge and confident wine service.
This is a casual role, ideal for someone who wants meaningful shifts in a high-quality, thoughtful environment.
You'll be responsible for
* Maintaining a high level of guest experience on the floor
* Assisting guests with thoughtful, informed wine selections
* Managing wine service during busy shifts
* Supporting cellar organisation and contributing to wine list development
* Working closely with the kitchen and FOH team to deliver cohesive, polished service
What We're Looking For
* Strong wine knowledge (WSET or equivalent preferred, but not essential)
* Minimum two years' experience in a sommelier role within a quality or fine-dining environment
* Confident table side presence and warm communication
* Calm under pressure, with a genuine love of hospitality
* Interest in European and Australian wine cultures - particularly emerging regions and producers
* A team player who values cleanliness, consistency, and respect
