The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Staff Specialist Cardiology vacancy.

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. Responsibilities

* Provide inpatient and outpatient clinical services incorporating principles of best practice.
* Contribute to the after-hours on‑call roster.
* Provides services in the activities of the Department as agreed with the Head of Department.
* Establishes and oversees activities to review resource utilisation and develop appropriate strategic plans and procedures for their efficient and effective use.
* Encourages and facilitates teaching and research appropriate to the role of the Department.
* Ensures relevant Occupational Safety and Health practices and standards are implemented and maintained.
* Ensures the development, implementation and maintenance of performance management systems which support the ongoing development of individual and team performance and skills for medical, technical, and administrative staff.
* Ensures a system of continuous quality improvement that systematically evaluates, identifies opportunities for improvement and plans to implement strategies to meet customer needs.
* Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
* The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, part‑time day work (with on‑call), working 7.6 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

* Holds specialist registration; or
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
* Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
* Eligible for registration as a Specialist in Cardiology with the Medical Board of Australia.

Employment Screening Requirements

* Conviction checks in the following areas: Crimes of violence, Sex related offences, Serious drug offences, Crimes involving dishonesty.
* Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
* The incumbent would have subspecialty skills in cardiac imaging and have a strong knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles.
