WORKSHOP MANAGER - THE FNQ/THE GULF - BDS MECHANICAL REPAIRS

BDS Mechanical Repairs is looking for an experienced manager to take the lead at one of our well-established workshops in the Gulf/FNQ region. This is a hands-on role within a large, privately owned and operated business, requiring a proactive mindset and a strong focus on achieving results.

You will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the workshop, including parts coordination, contract administration, and client relationship management. Strong leadership will be essential to inspire your team and drive performance, with a clear focus on meeting financial objectives and delivering outstanding customer service. Your success in this role will rely on your ability to cultivate a culture of accountability, teamwork, profitability, and long-term sustainability.

BDS Mechanical Repairs is a rapidly expanding and dynamic company, specialising in mechanical, auto-electrical, and welding services - delivered both on-site and from our fully equipped workshops. With 22 branches across Queensland and a fleet of over 160 field service units, we provide dependable coverage across more than 600,000 km² throughout Queensland and Western Australia. About you:

- Management experience essential
- Trade qualified Diesel fitter/Diesel mechanic/LV Mechanic preferred but not essential
- Experience with automotive workshops a bonus
- Strong communication skills
- Good people management skills
- Proven record for leading a successful team
- Ability to manage all aspects of the business effectively
- Ability to lead continuous improvement and WH&S;
- Proficient in the computer skills
- Ability to drive business growth, cultivate new opportunities
- Maintain positive customer relationships

The Position:

- Day-to-day running of a mechanical business

Job Planning & Execution

- Job planning including customer liaison
- Assist in opening and closing job cards
- Job tracking & reporting
- Estimating and quoting

Client Relations

- Ability to deal with internal and external clients

Team Leadership & Performance

- Management of staff performance
- Workshop safety management
- Quality control and management
- Willing to be hands-on and not afraid to be on the tools
