 
        
        Analyst Programmer (AS400 Specialist)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Analyst Programmer with strong technical expertise in AS400 systems to join our ICT team. This role requires someone who can bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions, while working across onsite and offshore teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will be hands-on in system analysis, development, debugging, and production support, while also providing guidance and mentorship to other team members.
Key Responsibilities
In line with ANZSCO guidelines for Analyst Programmers, your responsibilities will include:
- Researching, consulting, analysing, and evaluating system program needs.
- Identifying technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated processes, procedures, and methods.
- Testing, debugging, diagnosing, and correcting errors and faults in applications programming languages.
- Writing, updating, and maintaining technical program, end-user documentation, and operational procedures.
- Designing, coding, testing, and maintaining applications and software systems in accordance with quality standards.
- Providing advice, guidance, and expertise in developing proposals and strategies for software design activities.
- Maintaining and reporting project status updates to stakeholders and management.
- Collaborating with customers, internal staff, and offshore colleagues to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Mentoring and guiding team members to deliver quality outcomes.
- Applying retail domain knowledge to improve system functionality and business processes.
Skills and Experience Required
- Deep AS400 expertise with hands-on experience in RPG, CL, ILE and related technologies.
- Strong SQL and RDBMS knowledge.
- Proven ability in program analysis, debugging, and system design.
- Solid understanding of AS400 jobs, JD configuration, IFS and QDLS file systems.
- Experience with unit testing, change management tools, and workflow design.
- Knowledge of AS400 FTP scripting (advantageous).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Retail industry experience highly regarded.
