About the Opportunity

Work closely with the General Manager as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Oversee the Development & Building business unit, lead and manage a high‑performing technical team, deliver projects, ensure quality, drive business development, and contribute to business‑wide strategy.

Support for MBA studies, career development and long‑term investment in you.

Relocation assistance to help you move to Northern NSW.

The salary package for this role ranges from $160,000 to $180,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About You

You're a qualified and experienced civil engineer who understands the ins and outs of land development and building infrastructure — and the Australian standards and council requirements that come with it.

You've led teams, managed projects, and delivered results. But what really drives you is growth — growing businesses, growing people, and growing your own influence. You want to step into a role where you can truly shape how things are done and leave a lasting impact.

You're confident, strategic, and commercially savvy — but you also roll up your sleeves, communicate clearly, and lead by example. You bring a growth mindset and a desire to elevate a team and business into its next chapter.


Key Qualifications, Experience & Skills

* Qualified Civil Engineer, ideally Chartered or willing to attain Chartership.
* Experience leading teams in a consultancy or development setting.
* Ability to lead operational delivery while managing financial performance.
* Confident communicator and strong relationship builder.
* Growth‑oriented mindset with strategic capability.
* Willingness to be based in or near Coffs Harbour or Grafton/Lismore considered.


Key Areas of Responsibility

* Purpose: Build and lead a high-performing team aligned with the company's strategy and values.
* Responsibilities:
o Manage and mentor the Development & Building team.
o Drive accountability, performance, and professional growth.
o Foster a culture of ownership, learning, and technical excellence.


Project Delivery & Operational Oversight

* Purpose: Ensure the delivery of projects on time, on budget, and to required standards.
* Responsibilities:
o Oversee project planning and resourcing.
o Support proposal writing and tender responses.
o Maintain high-quality outputs and compliance with codes and regulations.


Business Development & Client Relationships

* Purpose: Expand market presence and strengthen long-term strategic partnerships.
* Responsibilities:
o Build relationships with government, clients, and industry stakeholders.
o Lead business development initiatives aligned with strategic goals.
o Represent BK. Engineering Consulting Solutions at events and within networks.


Financial Management

* Purpose: Ensure financial performance and contribute to strategic planning.
* Responsibilities:
o Manage forecasting, budgets, and reporting for the business unit.
o Oversee financial health and profitability.
o Work closely with the GM and CFO to align financial and business goals.


Quality & Safety Standards

* Purpose: Maintain systems and standards that support safe, quality, and consistent delivery.
* Responsibilities:
o Uphold ISO9001 and WHS standards.
o Ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place.
o Champion continuous improvement and compliance.
