About the Role
Banana Shire Council is seeking a motivated and detail‑driven Project Officer – Safety, Risk and Compliance to support the delivery of key safety, quality and governance initiatives across the organisation.
In this temporary project role, you will play a pivotal part in developing, implementing and embedding a centralised system for Take 5 Matrix compliance, calibration management, and quality documentation processes. Your work will directly contribute to Council's preparation for an upcoming Quality Audit and help strengthen organisational compliance frameworks.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, highly organised and passionate about improving safety, quality and risk systems within a local government environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a centralised system to support Take 5 Matrix adherence.
* Coordinate Take 5 documentation including distribution, completion, return and record management.
* Establish processes for quality checks, reviews, and continuous improvement.
* Support organisational readiness for Quality Audits through documentation control and evidence management.
* Develop processes and tools supporting calibration compliance.
* Assist with reviewing and streamlining WHS, HR and Quality documentation.
* Provide guidance and training to staff on safety, quality and compliance requirements.
* Coordinate project tasks, research, reporting and recordkeeping.
* Liaise with internal teams, external stakeholders and government authorities.

About You
You will bring:
* A qualification in business, administration, WHS, quality or equivalent experience.
* Experience in compliance, safety, quality or governance functions.
* Strong organisational, planning and time‑management capability.
* High‑level communication skills and strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* High computer literacy (MS Office + ability to learn Council systems).
* A 'C' Class driver's licence (minimum provisional).
