With customers across USA, Europe and Australia, we're looking to rapidly scale our product offering and production capabilities.
This role is based at Alcon's recently acquired subsidiary Cylite in Melbourne and will define and own all maintenance activities for the on-site production line.
The role works closely with Production and with Equipment, Automation, and Design Engineering teams to ensure timely upgrades and sustained production schedules.
As the first hire in this newly created team, this role will shape maintenance practices and ensure equipment uptime during the transition from development to volume manufacturing.Why Join Alcon?

Develop preventative maintenance, calibration and servicing strategy for production equipment.Develop maintenance, calibration, and servicing procedures.Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment and facility calibration, preventative maintenance, and servicing.Audit production equipment to ensure workstations are safe and functional.Troubleshoot equipment failures on the production line, perform fault-finding investigations, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrences.Identify tooling and spare part requirements; coordinate supplier identification, order requests and stock keeping for automation support.Support Introduction of New Equipment
Collaborate with design colleagues on workstation and tools design for ongoing assembly and maintenance; review proposed equipment designs for reliability, maintainability, and parts availability.With Automation and Equipment Engineers, perform mechanical assembly, electrical wiring installation, and commissioning per documentation for industrial equipment used in a medical device production line.Support Production
Assist with installation and configuration of software onto production computers and test instruments; perform general mechanical work to facilitate assembly; coordinate repair work, safety inspections and procurement of new plant and equipment with production schedules; lead continuous improvement activities such as kaizens.Documentation
Operate within our QMS regarding maintenance documentation; create or improve manufacturing equipment documents and other technical documentation as required.Qualifications and PrerequisitesCertificates or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related disciplineMinimum 5 years of hands-on experience in equipment within the medical manufacturing industryExperience in maintenance supporting manufacturing production; mechatronics and optics knowledge preferredStrong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills; knowledge of mechatronics and PLC troubleshootingStrong IT and computer skills; ability to articulate, design and document procedures in English and implement proceduresHands-on, ready to roll up sleeves and work on production equipmentAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong interpersonal and communication skills; self-motivated and proactive with the ability to contribute in a teamExperience working with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals; ability to build strong working relationships with Operations Managers, Engineering Group Leaders, and functional teamsNotesRelevant statements about the company and mission are included above and are not endorsements of specific candidates.
