Biochemist – AI Data Trainer

In this fully remote contract role, you'll put your deep knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics to work — challenging AI systems, exposing their blind spots, and helping shape the next generation of scientific reasoning tools. No AI background required.

About The Role

Your biochemistry expertise is more valuable than you think — even beyond the lab. Alignerr partners with the world's leading AI research teams to build and refine cutting‐edge scientific AI models, and we need PhD‐level Biochemists to help us get it right.

* Organization: Alignerr
* Type: Hourly Contract
* Location: Remote
* Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

* Design Challenging Problems — Construct advanced biochemistry problems spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug‐target interactions to rigorously stress‐test AI performance.
* Author Ground‐Truth Solutions — Write precise, step‐by‐step technical solutions and benchmark responses that define the standard for high‐level scientific reasoning in AI systems.
* Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI‐generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, scientific validity, and safety.
* Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzymatic principles — and deliver structured feedback that directly improves model performance.

Who You Are

* Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in progress) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
* Deep Domain Knowledge: Strong expertise in one or more areas including structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics.
* Clear Communicator: Able to translate highly technical concepts into precise, well‐structured written explanations.
* Detail‐Oriented: High level of precision when working with complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
* Self‐Motivated: Comfortable working independently and asynchronously on your own schedule.
* No prior AI experience required.

Nice to Have

* Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review.
* Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST.
* Background in bioinformatics or computational biology.

Why Join Us

* Work on genuinely cutting‐edge AI projects alongside top research labs and scientists.
* Fully remote and flexible — fit the work around your schedule, whether that's 10 or 40 hours a week.
* Gain rare, first‐hand exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated.
* Contribute to work that could improve how AI handles scientific research for years to come.
* Freelance autonomy — no office politics, no rigid hours, no micromanagement.
* Potential for ongoing contract extension as projects evolve.
