About the program
Our Gippsland Youth Residential Youth Rehabilitation Program (GYRRP) provides a 24 hours per day 7 days per week residential service to young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing concerns relating to their drug and alcohol use.
Your new role
As an AOD Support Worker you will actively contribute to the provision of a safe and hospitable environment for young people voluntarily seeking withdrawal and / or respite from the acute use of alcohol and / or other drugs.
As a key member of the team you will :
* Support the delivery of harm minimisation education and information sessions
* Deliver therapeutic interventions to young people undertaking withdrawal
* Assist in the development of individual treatment plans making referrals completing discharge summaries and other administration tasks
* Assist with meal preparation / ordering general maintenance of the facility undertaking laundry duties and transporting young people when required

Your skills and experience
You will bring with you :
* Certificate IV in AOD or completion of the AOD Core Competencies (or willingness to complete within the first 12 months of employment)
* Previous experience working with people with AOD and / or Mental Health issues
* Knowledge of screening assessment and community-based treatment for clients with AOD and mental health issues
* Experience in developing individual treatment plans post withdrawal and discharge planning
* An understanding of AOD withdrawal and the harm minimisation framework
