The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Trainee Clinical Coder to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Actively participate in the Gold Coast Health's Clinical Coding education, evaluation, and auditing program to develop your skills
Complete Queensland Cancer Registry notifications and appropriate Electronic Validation Application (EVA) error reviews
Actively participate in education activities, and other initiatives within the Clinical Coding Service, including auditing processes
Identify data discrepancies between the clinical information systems and provide feedback through appropriate channels
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
While not mandatory, a Diploma in Clinical Coding (or equivalent) or alternatively a Tertiary Health Information Management related Bachelor would be well regarded
While not mandatory, coding experience within a healthcare facility would be well regarded
Ability to assign accurate morbidity and procedural classifications to episodes of care in accordance with ICD-10-AM, (current edition preferred), ACHI and Australian Coding Standards
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)
