About The Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Senior Resident Medical Officer to complement and enhance the current Emergency Medicine Department. The department features a young, friendly, dynamic group of emergency physicians with a keen interest in trainee teaching and training. There is a paid protected day of trainee teaching per fortnight and an education fund of up to $2,500 annually for approved courses or research project requirements.
Rotations available include Anaesthetics, ICU, Paediatric Emergency Medicine (at Campbelltown, Liverpool and Westmead Children's Hospitals), and Retrieval Medicine. Urban district time can be spent at Bankstown and Campbelltown Hospitals. Rural rotations to Dubbo Base Hospital and Alice Springs can also be arranged. A 6/12 ultrasound term and a 1-year ED administration term accredited by ACEM are available to advanced trainees.
The hospital is fully accredited for advanced training by ACEM. Liverpool Hospital is a tertiary referral and trauma centre with a broad case mix and a strong record in primary and fellowship exams, with dedicated exam preparation support. Emergency Physicians provide 7-day coverage with opportunities for supervised training in a busy department. Full-time ED medical staff work 4 ten-hour shifts per week with roster flexibility.
What You'll Be Doing
Assess and manage, under supervision, patients presenting to the Emergency Department and admitted to inpatient wards when rotating to inpatient specialties.
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Completion of at least two postgraduate years and working towards membership of ACEM.
* A minimum of 6 months experience in an Australian Emergency Department or equivalent.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Effective oral and written communication skills and demonstrated good organizational and time management skills.
* Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education.
* Ability and willingness to work at facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and participate in a 24-hour shift roster.
* Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
