Yass Soldiers Club is hiring!

Fresh off the back of major renovations and with a new café outlet launched, we are entering an exciting phase of growth. We’re looking for a passionate Sous Chef with proven experience in Australian clubs, pubs and restaurants to join our team and help lead this exciting new chapter in our food and beverage offerings.

👨‍🍳 About the Role

As Sous Chef, you’ll play a key leadership role in our kitchen, supporting the Head Chef in daily operations while working hands-on with the team. From managing your own section to contributing new dish ideas, you'll be instrumental in maintaining high standards across both our modernised bistro and new café outlet.

This role is ideal for chefs who understand the pace, quality, and consistency expected in Australian hospitality venues.

🔧 Key Responsibilities
* Manage your designated kitchen section to a high standard

* Supervise and mentor junior team members with clear communication

* Create and deliver daily specials, assist in menu planning

* Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation meet Club standards

* Support stock control, ordering, and inventory management

* Uphold WH&S, HACCP, and food safety standards

* Step up to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence

* Contribute positively to team culture and smooth kitchen operations

✅ Who We’re Looking For
* Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior chef in an Australian club, pub, or restaurant

* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum)

* Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)

* Ability to prioritise and stay calm under pressure

* A proven leader who can inspire and mentor junior staff

* Creative culinary skills with an eye for detail

* High standard of personal hygiene and presentation

* Full Australian working rights are essential – sponsorship is not available for this role

💼 What We Offer
* Full-time role (5 days per week with two consecutive days off)

* Salary range: $85,000 – $95,000 (above award)

* Immediate start available
