Description This is your opportunity to join the Redpath team at the Appin shaft project located in Menangle in Southern Sydney/Wollongong region, whereby Redpath are responsible for sinking two shafts at the Appin Coal Mine. The Appin Project has been set up using industry leading technology, and Redpath will continue these standards with excavation of two blind sink shafts for ventilation and access shafts. Responsibilities Responsible and accountable for the implementation of safety management systems for domestic projects that Redpath participates in; Manage the Critical Risk Management (CRM) program and ensure that monthly targets and objectives are achieved; Organise training programmes for employees as required, this may involve the utilisation of external providers or your own skills and expertise; Ensure existing employees and contractors are appropriately trained for the tasks that they are required to undertake and ensure compliance with Redpath training programmes and initiatives and statutory requirements as per the applicable legislation and standards; Implement and maintain effective record keeping and document control procedures to ensure that records are kept and are retrievable and in general compliance with the Redpath Safety Management Plans; Identify hazards and other areas of risk that may not be satisfactorily managed with existing procedures, engineering, design or methods of work and make recommendations for continuous improvements, additions or changes; Provide education / training regarding health, safety and training management systems to all managers, supervisors, employees and contractors as required; Provide advice, interpretation and guidance to management and line supervision on statutory requirements and best practice developments within health and safety; Undertake responsibility to ensure appropriate levels of incident investigations are conducted for events in conjunction with operational management and employees; Track proposed and emerging safety and health legislation and regulatory requirements and provide reviews to management; Manage the Site Activity Compliance Implementation Schedule requirements and review on a monthly basis. Qualifications Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (essential) Shaft sinking, UG mining or Tunnelling experience Knowledge of safety management and systematic approach Current knowledge of relevant Workplace Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation legislation Good communication skills, both verbal and written Solid planning and organisational skills to schedule and allocate training Ability to problem solve and be adaptable Attention to detail ensuring all standards and compliance are met A drive for continuous improvement and innovation Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel Strong customer relations management skills
