You may already reside in Mackay, if so, great. If you're outside of Mackay we can facilitate a DIDO arrangement or a FIFO arrangement ex Brisbane (or other location as agreed). If relocating we'll also help package THE most tax effective living away from home arrangements for you as well.
The Opportunity
This is a perfect chance to obtain a vast amount of design and in office experience at a world leading port facility and apply your engineering skills to solve a wide variety of structural integrity problems.
Liaising between the Client and Site Engineers, you’ll provide expert advice on site inspection and repair procedures & processes to the Engineering Department, Managers & site engineers. Typical structures may include ship-loaders, stackers/reclaimers, large conveyors, transfer towers, surge bins & bridges.
Responsibilities
* Liaise between the Client and Site Engineers and provide expert advice on site inspection and repair procedures and processes.
* Support the Engineering Department, Managers and site engineers with engineering guidance.
* Inspect heavy structures and large materials handling machines; assess structural integrity.
* Contribute to design and in-office analysis for structural projects.
* Prepare clear reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
About You
As this is both a site and design office-based role, you must be fit, energetic and keen to be actively involved in site-based inspections as well as office-based engineering. You may be based in Mackay or work to an appropriate DIDO or FIFO schedule with periodic return flights home.
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (RPEQ or CPEng required)
* Structural steel & concrete design and inspection experience
* Ability to assess & make engineering judgement decisions
* Provide expert advice to site engineering & maintenance teams
* Inspection of heavy structures & large materials handling machines
* Solid knowledge of steel, concrete, wind & materials handling codes
* Well‑developed report writing, verbal and interpersonal skills
* Robust work ethic, commitment to safety, and a driver's licence

Remuneration and Benefits
An attractive remuneration package (depending on experience) ranges from $120k to $200k PLUS paid overtime plus living away from home allowances for DIDO or FIFO arrangements.
