About the Opportunity 
The primary purpose of the Manager Chemistry is to ensure the provision of an efficient, timely, quality and effective operational output of highly specialised and complex forensic casework from the Chemistry Group, to meet client expectations, organisational priorities and service standards which provide crucial support to the operation of the justice system in South Australia. 
The position has line management responsibility for a team of Professional and Technical Officers covering forensic disciplines of illicit drugs, clandestine laboratories, cannabis, trace evidence and document examination. 
About the Business 
Forensic Science SA (FSSA) provides a comprehensive, coordinated range of services to agencies associated with the justice system including the State Coroner, South Australia Police (SAPOL), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and defence and civil litigants. 
We are part of the Attorney General’s Department and the Director, FSSA reports to the Executive Director, Finance, People & Performance. 
Within FSSA there are four scientific/medico-legal operational areas: Pathology, Chemistry, Biology and Toxicology, each analysing materials using a diverse range of scientific equipment and processes. 
The operational areas are supported by Administration, Information Technology and Projects, Science Support and Quality, who each provide underpinning services in support of the operational areas. 
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SAPOL under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

Some out of hours work may be required. 
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required. 
A degree in science. 
Qualifications in Training in leadership and management.
