Position Overview
The successful applicants will be motivated, driven, and skilled trade workers who can work both independently and as part of a team. You will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to follow instructions while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Dig trenches for underground electrical cable installation.
- Read and interpret electrical and survey layout plans to execute construction to exact specification.
- Install and position steel piles and frame structures into foundations using drilling and piling equipment.
- Prepare and install conduit cabling for solar farm connections.
- Assemble mechanical components including bearing house assemblies (BHA), claws, and clamps for solar panel racking systems.
- Use torque wrenches to secure components to specified tension.
- Install and align tubes to allow for safe and secure panel placement.
- Conduct quality checks to confirm that solar panel mounting systems are functional and that BHA/SPC systems are operational for solar tracking.
- Assist electrical and mechanical trades with general support during peak construction stages.
- Follow all site safety protocols and contribute to a protected and efficient work environment.
- Operate skid steer, telehandler, and forklift to move and place materials, tubes, and structural components on-site, when required.
Skills & Qualifications
To be successful in this position, you will ideally hold:
- A Certificate IV in Renewable Energy or a related qualification; OR
- A minimum of 3 years’ work experience as a Solar Farm Trades Worker (substituting for a formal qualification).
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction plans.
- Experience with hand and power tools, and mechanical/electrical assembly.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and following established protocols.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and adapt to remote site conditions.
