Risk & Insurance Specialist
Gladstone Regional Council is seeking a skilled Risk & Insurance Specialist to contribute to its success.
About the Role
The purpose of this position is to support the continuous improvement of our Enterprise Risk Management Framework and provide customer-centric and confidential assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting the continuous improvement of our Risk Management Framework;
* Building risk management awareness and capability across the business;
* Supporting the renewal of our insurance policies and providing insurance advice across the business;
* Receiving, investigating, and coordinating insurance claims for and against us which includes undertaking investigations, making decisions, communicating outcomes with claimants, and liaising with our insurer.
Requirements:
* Substantial experience in the management of insurance claims and the provision of advice in relation to risk management functions and activities;
* Sound knowledge of the process and legislative environment of insurance claims and risk management, including knowledge and understanding of relevant acts and standards;
* Substantial interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis in the areas of consultation, negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution and assertiveness and ability to relate effectively to both senior management and operational staff;
* Previous experience communicating with customers to gather information to provide an assessment of facts and assessment of risk;
* Substantial analytical, research and project management skills;
* Substantial organisational and time management skills;
* Understanding of and experience interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policy and procedures;
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written English) to engage with a broad customer base;
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently;
* Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems;
* Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
