About your opportunity:
The purpose of this position is to provide high quality clinical services, and in particular ACRRM trainee and junior doctor supervision and training, as a part of the multidisciplinary team delivering integrated primary, community and secondary level health services to the Indigenous community of Palm Island. Cultural safety is paramount. The medical officers of Joyce Palmer Health Service (JPHS) will work in the Palm Island Primary Care Centre on rotation, and they will assist in maintaining functional connections between the Centres to ensure continuity of care for patients.
About the facility:
JPHS has 15 beds, a 2 bay Emergency Department, a satellite haemodialysis unit, pharmacy and x-ray (provided by licenced x-ray operators). The Palm Island Health Action Plan guides delivery of comprehensive services. Primary health care services are delivered from a separate location, Palm Island Primary Health Care Centre, with its own leadership in collaboration with JPHS and are transitioning to community control. JPHS will develop more aged care services over the coming years.

Competitive salary and benefits:

Salary range: $187,569 to $274,678 p.a. (L13 - L27)
5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
Additional benefits: Motor Vehicle Allowance, Professional Development Allowance and Inaccessbility Incentive Allowance *category 1.

Role Requirements:
Mandatory qualification and registration or membership with appropriate regisration authority or association.
Possession of class C drivers' licence.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
Travel is a requirement of this position.
