Acting as an enterprise integrator, leading the Business Resilience Centre of Expertise, you will connect risk, operations, technology, people, and governance to shape coherent resilience outcomes and influence senior decision making. Exercising mandate on behalf of the Chief Risk Officer, you will set expectations, challenge maturity, and drive alignment across business units‐balancing local ownership with enterprise‐wide consistency. Initially, this role will also support the Crisis Management team (CMT) as the primary senior delegate to the CMT lead and ultimately take over the lead of CMT. You will set direction, shape priorities, and coordinate delivery with contributors from across the company. You will engage senior stakeholders to influence decision making, provide expert guidance on continuity practices, and ensure the CoE's work is integrated with broader risk, resilience, and operational excellence activities. You will also play a key role in leading the Crisis Management Team in instances where Telstra faces a significant incident.
Focus of the role
Telstra is operating in an environment of increasing volatility, complexity and interdependence - technological, operational, regulatory and reputational. This role has been established to provide a single enterprise point of leadership for business resilience, ensuring the organisation can anticipate disruption, make sound decisions under pressure, and recover with confidence. The role exists to lift resilience from a set of practices to a core organisational capability critical to customer trust, operational continuity and long‐term value.
What you'll do
* Lead an enterprise‐wide Business Continuity Planning (BCP) framework that emphasises operational excellence, standardisation, and continuous improvement across all business units.
* Oversee end‐to‐end analysis of continuity‐related incidents and near misses to identify systemic issues, strengthen controls, and drive cross‐company learning.
* Direct scenario planning and complex simulation exercises that test integrated processes, interdependencies, and real‐world operational readiness.
* Guide and develop a high‐performing BCP team, setting clear priorities and ensuring consistent, high‐quality delivery across the organisation.
* Partner with senior leaders to align, build and test continuity strategies with operational objectives, regulatory expectations, and emerging risk landscapes.
* Champion cross‐functional collaboration to ensure continuity plans, processes, and recovery strategies are cohesive, scalable, and embedded into day‐to‐day operations.
* During a crisis incident, support the activation and running of the CMT on behalf of the Chief Risk Officer.
* Support the development and implementation of strategies to help ensure Telstra is prepared for and responds effectively to crisis situations, whilst also driving training and incident simulation scenarios across the business.
