The Client
Our client is a well-established not-for-profit organisation that provides a variety of community, social, educational, and support services across the region. With a strong values-driven approach, the organisation works with diverse groups and is dedicated to fostering positive, inclusive, and meaningful outcomes for the communities it serves.
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Communications Officer to lead the organisation's media, communications, marketing, and engagement activities. Operating with a high level of autonomy, you will drive strategic communication initiatives that strengthen brand presence, enhance stakeholder relationships, and promote the organisation's services.
Key responsibilities include:

* You will be acting as the primary media contact. For example, drafting key statements, managing enquiries, coordinating timely responses, and advising leaders on emerging communication risks and opportunities.
* Guiding the creation and rollout of marketing collateral and promotional campaigns across print and digital platforms, ensuring all materials are engaging, consistent, and on-brand.
* Overseeing digital channels, including the website and social media, by generating compelling content, monitoring performance insights, and refining approaches based on data trends.
* Supporting positive partnerships with community groups, funders, media representatives, and other stakeholders, ensuring all engagement is inclusive and culturally respectful.
* Strengthening internal communication processes to enhance staff connection and alignment, while coaching teams and managers on best-practice communication methods.
* Upholding compliance obligations by adhering to policies, legislative requirements, and quality standards, including maintaining accurate records and approvals for communication activities.
* Developing polished and purposeful content, such as newsletters, digital campaigns, reports, event materials, and corporate publications, while managing timelines and supporting organisation-wide initiatives.
Your Skills & Experience
* Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, marketing or a related discipline, or substantial professional experience in a comparable senior communications role.
* Demonstrated capability in developing and executing integrated communication, media and marketing strategies that support organisational objectives.
* Strong skills in writing, editing and content creation across digital, print and multimedia channels.
* Proven ability for managing multiple priorities, exercising sound judgement, and operating with a high degree of independence in a dynamic environment.
* Advanced interpersonal and stakeholder engagement abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to build and maintain professional relationships across diverse communities and organisational levels.
* Experience overseeing brand consistency and organisational reputation within complex or values-driven settings.
* A sound understanding of the issues affecting vulnerable cohorts and a commitment to ensuring communication practices are culturally safe, inclusive and responsive.
* Ability to meet mandatory compliance requirements, including possession of a current Driver's Licence, Working With Children Check (Blue Card), and National Police Check.
The Offer
* A permanent full-time position offering significant scope to guide and influence the organisations overall communication approach.
* Competitive salary aligned with level and experience, plus the benefits of working within a purpose-driven organisation.
* An inclusive, values-focused work environment recognised for its strong commitment to staff wellbeing and professional standards.
* Supportive leadership, meaningful professional collaboration, and opportunities for ongoing growth and development.
* Opportunities to collaborate closely with skilled internal teams and highly regarded external specialists in branding, creative design, and public relations.
