The Salvation Army is a leading provider of Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) rehabilitation and recovery services across Australia.
At the Sunrise Centre in Darwin, we support individuals seeking stability, healing and long-term recovery through evidence-based treatment, structured programs and compassionate care.
As a Psychologist, you will play an important role in helping residents understand their experiences, develop insight, and build the strategies needed to support lasting recovery. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, your expertise will contribute to safe, person-centred care for individuals experiencing substance use, trauma and mental health challenges.
About the Role:
In this role you will provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions to residents participating in the Sunrise Centre's residential AOD Rehabilitation Program.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver structured interventions and clinical guidance aligned with best practice and The Salvation Army's model of care.
Applications are welcomed from Provisional Psychologists completing their supervised practice pathway, fully registered Psychologists, and suitably qualified mental health clinicians with AOD experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide evidence-based psychological assessment, diagnosis, formulation and treatment
* Deliver clinical services to an allocated caseload within a residential AOD setting
* Facilitate group education and therapeutic sessions
* Use validated screening and assessment tools to inform treatment plans
* Apply sound clinical judgement and adapt therapeutic approaches to meet client needs
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support resident wellbeing and recovery
* Provide consultation and guidance to staff where appropriate
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
* Support a safe, ethical and recovery-oriented therapeutic environment
* Deliver individual therapeutic sessions with residents throughout their program
About You
* You are a compassionate and skilled clinician who is passionate about supporting individuals through recovery.
* You will bring:
o A degree in Psychology or relevant Mental Health discipline
o Provisional or full registration with AHPRA, or eligibility to obtain registration
o Knowledge or experience within AOD, mental health, community services or residential treatment settings
o Strong clinical assessment, formulation and intervention skills
