Summary:
The primary role of the Maintenance Officer – is to assist the farm management team in the day-to-day operations on the farm ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations
Responsibilities:
* Perform repairs and preventative maintenance
* Perform general farm duties that assist in the daily operation of the farms
* Delivery of fuel, parts and consumables to the farms
* Maintenance on ProTen farms in the region
* Perform specific tasks under instruction of the farm management and as directed from time to time by the production manager or regional operations manager
* Farms are to be maintained to high standards at all times.
* Ensure all plant and equipment is operational, repaired and maintained in good condition at all times.
* Communicated regularly with farm management staff, both individually and as a group to ensure good working relationships are maintained concerning maintenance issues on farm.
* Maintain maintenance history of all plant and equipment as required
* Monitor the use of spare parts inventories, ensure sufficient stock is available to carry out all break downs and ongoing maintenance
* Carry out monthly stocktake on parts
* Work with farm mangers to ensure that their farm R&M costs are within budget
* Keep accurate inventory of all trade tools
* Ensure all tools and maintenance equipment are kept in good condition at all times
* Review ProTens equipment and maintenance SOP’s and recommend any changes that may deem relevant.
* Initiate and carry out progress improvement projects that improve efficiency and reduce operational costs
* Ensure bio security procedures are adhered to and in line with ProTens bio security manual
* Ensure all work undertaken is carried with high regard to animal welfare procedures at all times.

Qualifications:
* Proven experience in a maintenance role, preferably within the agriculture, fishing, or forestry sectors.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and maintenance practices.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in maintenance or engineering are advantageous.
